Why You Should Attend The National School Choice Rally.

Several organizations are partnering with National School Choice week to organize a rally that will invite school leaders, parents, teachers, legislators, reporters, and community business leaders to demonstrate their support for school choice. It’s time to show the public and community leaders how diverse support is for school choice. This event is an initiative that seeks to increase awareness and support for all schools of choice.

Date: Saturday, January 28th, 2012

Hey all!

I know that there are so many incredible folks like you around the country working to improve educational outcomes for kids…and how cool is it that we can connect via the REEP blog?!  My name is Zach, and I look forward to trying to figure this out together.

I currently serve as the principal of HOPE Christian High School in Milwaukee, WI.  I am new to the gig, and Milwaukee, and REEP blog for that matter, but not new to education reform!

Cognitive Sprawl: A learning landscape of expansion without intention

This is my maiden entry in the Rice blogosphere, but I have stalked the REEP Blog for a couple months now.  My name is Kap McWhorter and I have sojourned in education for the better part of the last decade.  I have held administration and teaching positions in both private and public schools.  I have been everything from the Campus Pastor/High School Religion teacher at a small private school to my current position with Humble ISD as Small Learning Communities Coordinator.  Smattered amidst these varied experiences are extended periods of work in the non-profit sector and global relief organizations.  These seemingly incongruous experiences have found harmony in my current work in directing Finding Heroes, a non-profit organization committed to providing meaningful learning experiences by connecting students and educators to the needs of their local and global communities. 2011 REEP alumna Barb Campbell just says YES!

Soon after finishing her REEP MBA, 2011 graduate Barbara Campbell is at the start of something new. Shortly after our conversation Barb departed to attend the KIPP School Leadership Program at NYU, an opportunity made available through her new role as a Leading Excellence Fellow at YES Prep Public Schools. As Barb stated, “I’ve been so impressed with YES… and for the next year I’ll be extending my learning experience with them.” In this one-year intensive training program, she will gain the additional exposure and development she needs to lead a YES Prep school.
