Nancy Arnold is a very experienced educator with more than 36 years of public school leadership in Texas. Nancy is a retired School Principal and most recently, she joined the REEP Team as a Field Advisor to mentor the current REEP students while attending Rice University.

New Beginning.

Spring is here, graduation is near.  Hope springs eternal.  Trite but true words that are so appropriate for the upcoming events in May.

These 2012 graduates are about to embark on a new adventure in education.  New thoughts, new ideas, new positions, all springing from their work with REEP and with the intention of improving “school” for this century.

We wish them well in their endeavors.

Valentine’s Day.

Valentine’s Day!  The time to recognize those you love.  Take a few minutes to remind yourself that you are special also.  Stresses of this “job of education” can often overpower the thought that you are special.  Someone at work will always be better looking, smarter, have a bigger house or a finer car, better students in their classrooms, finer relationships with parents.  Let it go.  Be happy!

Celebrate!

The holidays have begun for people of all faiths and beliefs!  Streets and stores are decorated.  The radio plays non-stop holiday songs.  Parties are scheduled and shopping is in full swing.  It seems to begin earlier each year and can seem overwhelming.  However, why not make these joyous occasions a year-around occurrence, at least the celebrating part?

Mentoring is a “MUST”.

This past weekend while visiting my daughter, a graduate student and special education teacher, we had several enjoyable conversations that varied from what is and should be happening in her classroom as she prepared her lesson plans for the upcoming week to what is included or should she include in her first assessment report for her college class.
